Terms of service
These terms apply when you sign up, buy a license, or download software from bartis.dev. They're short on purpose — the goal is for both of us to know what we're agreeing to.
1. Provider
bartis.dev is operated by the person and entity named on the imprint page. By creating an account or completing a purchase, you accept these terms in the version current at the time.
2. What you're buying
Each product description spells out what you get. Unless the product page says otherwise, a purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to run the software on machines you control, for personal or internal business use, for the duration stated on the pricing block.
- Lifetime means perpetual: the binary you have keeps working forever; updates are included until bartis.dev sunsets the product.
- Monthly means the license is valid as long as the subscription is paid; cancellation stops the next billing cycle.
- Free means free. You may use it for personal or internal-business purposes. Resale or sublicensing is not included.
3. Hardware-bound licenses
For paid products, each license is tied to a fixed number of active machine sessions (shown on the product page). Activating a new machine beyond that limit will kick the oldest session. The license check is a fingerprint comparison; it doesn't collect identifying hardware information beyond what's necessary to enforce the limit.
4. Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in EUR including VAT where applicable. Payments are processed by Stripe; bartis.dev never sees your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel from the portal at any time.
5. Refunds
For one-off (lifetime) purchases you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under German distance-selling law, unless you've already activated the license on a machine — by activating, you explicitly consent to immediate performance and waive that right per § 356 Abs. 5 BGB. For monthly subscriptions, you can cancel at any time; we don't pro-rate the current period but you keep access until it ends.
6. Updates and end-of-life
bartis.dev maintains products it can stand behind. Major versions may add breaking changes; we document them in the changelog. If a product gets sunsetted, lifetime customers keep the last published binary and receive at least 90 days' notice.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer the license check to circumvent session limits
- Resell or sublicense the software without explicit permission
- Use the software to run a service that competes with the same product
- Use the software to violate applicable law
8. Warranty and liability
Software is provided "as is". We do our best to test it and we fix bugs as they come up — but we don't warrant uninterrupted, error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim relating to a product is limited to the amount you paid for that product in the twelve months preceding the claim. Statutory liability for intent, gross negligence, and bodily injury remains unaffected.
9. Open source components
Several products include open-source dependencies. Their licenses ship inside the product as required.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when our products change. Material changes are announced by email to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree to the new version, you can cancel before the effective date.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by German law, with mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remaining unaffected. Exclusive venue for disputes with merchants is the courts at the seat of the operator (see imprint).
